Sarasota Sharks, Head Site Coach, Venice YMCA

Purpose. Leads the Sarasota Sharks program at the Venice YMCA as a full part of the club, upholding the Sarasota Sharks tradition and standards with Venice athletes, and keeps the club's relationship with the YMCA strong.

Responsibilities

• Plans, runs, or oversees daily practices for every Venice YMCA group, following the Head Coach's season plan.
• Works with the Head Coach and Head Age Group Coach to uphold Sarasota Sharks standards at the Venice YMCA: group standards, promotion criteria, technique priorities, and team culture.
• Hires, schedules, and develops the Site Assistant Coaches, with the Head Coach's approval for hiring.
• Recommends athlete group moves to the Head Coach, so swimmers progress through the club on the same path wherever they train.
• Serves as the club's day-to-day contact with the Venice YMCA aquatics staff: lane schedules, deck use, lifeguard coverage, and facility issues.
• Follows YMCA facility rules and the terms of the agreement, and makes sure coaches, athletes, and families do the same.
• Raises agreement, billing, or scheduling conflicts early with the CEO, who owns the agreement.
• Serves as the contact for Venice YMCA families on schedules, expectations, and concerns.
• Reports Venice YMCA enrollment, attendance, and retention to the Head Coach each month.

Authority

• Makes daily practice decisions for Venice YMCA groups.
• Schedules Site Assistant Coaches within approved hours.
• Enforces team rules at the Venice YMCA and at meets.

Requirements

• Current USA Swimming coach membership: background check, SafeSport, Athlete Protection Training, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, CPR and First Aid.
• Experience coaching age group through senior swimmers.
• Experience supervising other coaches.
• Ability to represent the club professionally with a host facility.

Performance measures

• Venice YMCA enrollment and retention.
• Venice YMCA athlete progress against Sarasota Sharks group standards, including promotions.
• Relationship with the YMCA: facility issues resolved promptly, agreement terms followed.
